HNELHD Newcastle Sexual Assault Service is looking for an experienced consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to participate in the after-hours and weekend roster for medical services to adults and adolescents who have been sexually assaulted or presented to the service. Applicants will be expected to actively participate in the after-hours sexual assault roster with a minimum of 3 shifts per month including at least one weekend shift, and regular attendance at quarterly forensic examiner meetings within the service.

Applicants will: 
  • Have a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and/or overseas trained specialist pathways 
  • Provide best practice, evidence based clinical services to achieve quality patient outcomes and provide trauma informed care
  • Undertake supervision and education within the clinical environment of junior medical staff and other relevant staff to foster safe clinical practice, for example, forensic examiners in training or shadowing

A third COVID-19 dose is a requirement for Category A positions, as is one dose of the current Southern hemisphere influenza vaccine registered for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
