The Midwifery Group Practice Registered Midwife provides safe, compassionate, person centred care within a midwifery continuity of care model, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of maternity care in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve quality care outcomes for women and their families. Midwifery Group Practices (MGP) within the St George Hospital have been established to provide collaborative midwifery services with individualised continuity of care through pregnancy, labour and the early postnatal period.

- Current Registration or eligible for Registration as Registered Midwife (Division 1) with AHPRA, and provides evidence of meeting the AHPRA Recency of Practice Standards.
- Recent competent clinical experience in all aspects of midwifery care, demonstrating ability to practice safe care in line with policies and directives, clinical practice guidelines and consistent with the AN&MC competency standards for midwives and the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, the use of information technology and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical skills of IV Cannulation and Perineal Repair or willingness to achieve competency within 6 months of commencement in the model of care.
- Demonstrated extensive post registration experience as a midwife in an acute care facility.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted class C driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
