What you'll be doing
This position will have responsibility for direct and indirect clinical practice with families/carers of service users of the Hunter New England Mental Health Service (MHS). The incumbent will adopt a localised community development framework in conjunction with their clinical practice utilising a skills enhancement and consultation approach to working along side other allied health, nursing and medical staff to promote
family/carer focused-interventions.
Strong collaborative partnerships with government and non-government organisations will be a primary focus to facilitate optimal outcomes for service users and their primary support networks .

- Demonstrated social work experience in family interventions with mental health service users.
- Demonstrated application of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in building and maintaining effective professional and therapeutic relationships, including the application of negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated expertise and advanced clinical reasoning skills within area of clinical speciality, including family and carer inclusive practice.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and operate independently and set priorities in complex situations.
- Experience in supervision of social work staff and/ or students /other health professionals and collaborative practices with community partners.
- Proven capacity to analyse and solve problems of a complex nature in order to overcome resistance when initiating and implementing change strategies.
