What you'll be doing
This position will have responsibility for direct and indirect clinical practice with families/carers of service users of the Hunter New England Mental Health Service (MHS). The incumbent will adopt a localised community development framework in conjunction with their clinical practice utilising a skills enhancement and consultation approach to working along side other allied health, nursing and medical staff to promote  family/carer focused-interventions.
 
Strong collaborative partnerships with government and non-government organisations will be a primary focus to facilitate optimal outcomes for service users and their primary support networks .
  1. Demonstrated social work experience in family interventions with mental health service users.
  2. Demonstrated application of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in building and maintaining effective professional and therapeutic relationships, including the application of negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  3. Demonstrated expertise and advanced clinical reasoning skills within area of clinical speciality, including family and carer inclusive practice.
  4. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and operate independently and set priorities in complex situations.
  5. Experience in supervision of social work staff and/ or students /other health professionals and collaborative practices with community partners.
  6. Proven capacity to analyse and solve problems of a complex nature in order to overcome resistance when initiating and implementing change strategies.
