About the role:
In this role, you will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of contemporary nursing education initiatives that align with the strategic plans of HNELHD and NSW Health. As one of the leaders of the Surgical Services Education team at John Hunter Hospital, you will be responsible for creating, delivering, and assessing evidence-based educational curricula and programs for Surgical Services, designed for both local and district-wide use.
You will provide leadership and support to Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs) and nursing staff across the service, coordinating educational opportunities for nurses at all levels, from novice to expert in specialty areas. Your work will span all surgical units at John Hunter Hospital, including J3, H3, G2, F1, F3, E2, E3, AGSU, Renal Transplant, SDDOS, and the Perioperative Clinic.
Collaboration with the JHH leadership team, Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs), and other education teams on campus will be essential. The position requires you to work from Wednesday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and reports to the Director of Nursing for Surgical Services.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Master of Nursing qualification.
About you:
- You will be a confident and capable leader, able to prioritise your workload effectively to meet the needs and demands of the service.
- You will have high-level communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and gain trust when working with groups and teams.
Additional information:
- An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
- Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th October 2024.
- To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
