What you'll be doing
The Senior Policy Officer leads and manages the development and implementation of best practice policies, programs, projects, and activities for the Ministry of Health, public health organisations, and related government agencies. This includes providing expert policy advice to senior stakeholders and management to ensure the achievement of NSW Health's objectives in relation to health system performance in Integrated Care and System Integration. The role is also responsible for the development and management of monitoring systems to assess progress of implementation.
- Extensive experience in the provision of specialist and strategic policy advice in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment, including relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of policies and legislation impacting on health system performance.
- Demonstrated experience and expert knowledge in undertaking all stages of the policy development, implementation and review cycle including researching, impact assessments, developing contingencies and negotiating solutions.
- Highly developed analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret highly complex information from numerous sources, exercise independent judgement in a dynamic interagency policy environment, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively and achieve business focused and innovative solutions.
- Highly developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with extensive experience engaging, collaborating and influencing key stakeholders and customers at a senior level to influence and achieve optimal business outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of project management including managing and leading highly critical and complex projects, implementing strategic initiatives and achieving improved health system performance.
