Are you an Enrolled Nurse who is experienced in mental health and values being part of a caring and compassionate team? A fantastic opportunity exists to become part of the casual pool to undertake shifts at St George Mental Health Service on the St George Hospital campus. Shifts are available in the Inpatient Unit, PECC, OPMHU and Community and you can work as much or as little as you like to fit in with your lifestyle and commitments.

The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the St George Mental Service consistent with  SESLHD and St George Mental Health Service policies, procedures and standards.

The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and assists in the provision of nursing care. Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions. All Enrolled Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by:
  • NSW Health
  • The Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia
  • South Eastern Sydney Local Health District
  • Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service
  • Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled
  • Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making
  • Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  2. Holds a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, other care providers, hospital clinicians, immediate team members and other stakeholders.
  4. Supports working in a person centred environment.
  5. Current professional practice knowledge base.
  6. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of recovery principles and commitment to the philosophy and practice of consumer, family and carer participation and consumer focused care.
  8. Demonstrated experience and ability to deliver high quality patient care in Mental Health setting.
