Counsellor Level 1/2

Selection Criteria

1. Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or counselling. Demonstrated understanding of issues experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
2. Extensive experience with demonstrated skills in the provision of counselling, case management and/or psycho-social support to clients with complex needs / co-morbidities. Ability to provide trauma-informed culturally appropriate counselling and case management.
3. Understanding of primary healthcare principles and commitment to harm minimisation approach to drug use, applying flexible, eclectic and non-judgemental approaches to client care including culturally secure approaches.
4. Willingness to work evenings and weekends provding outreach services to vulnerable populations including COVID testing and vaccinations.
5. Experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of activities, training and/or programs to clients and other health professionals.
6. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement, commensurate with years of experience including experience and knowledge of issues effecting Aboriginal clients and community.
7. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and to ongoing clinical and professional learning receiving culturally sensitive support and supervision.
8. Current NSW driver's licence.
