What you'll be doing
  • The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment.
  • Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition and will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • You may be required to work at the different facilities and locations with the NSW public health system as part of Central Coast Local Health District which includes Gosford, Wyong, Woy Woy and Long Jetty Hospitals.
  • This position is required to deliver direct patient care and supervise junior medical staff in managing patients attending Gosford Emergency Department at Gosford Hospital, within Central Coast Local Health District, to ensure the provision of on-site experienced medical management to these patients under the supervision of on-site and on call Consultant Emergency Physicians.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Working towards or completed ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma.
  3. Aus/NZ/Competent Authority: Completion of a minimum of 4 post graduate years or more working in an acute hospital setting with a minimum of 12 months in an Australian Emergency Department as a Career Medical Officer, Trainee or Senior Resident Medical Officer.
  4. Standard Pathway Applicants, completion of a minimum of 6 post graduate years or more working in an acute hospital setting with a minimum of 2 years in an Australian Emergency Department working as a Career Medical Officer, Trainee or Senior Resident medical Officer.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  6. Demonstrated time management, problem solving skills and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills, with minimum of 30 workds per minute. Along with evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
