St George Mental Health Service, located on The St George Hospital campus, Kogarah.
What you'll be doing
Provision of support to the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care in a mental health environment as directed by the Registered Nurse. Provide direct care activities to consumers in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses with consumer care interventions as directed. Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required. Communicate effectively with consumers and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocol.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Selection Criteria:
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) or equivalent; 2nd/3rd year undergraduate nursing student.
- Good written, verbal, communication, observation and reporting skills.
- Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous experience working in a care setting with an interest in mental illness and well-being.
- Understanding of issues surrounding consumer confidentiality.
