The role

The Sterilisation Manager will be responsible for managing the overall operational, budgetary responsibilities/activities and human resources of the Sterilising Services Department (SSD). Develop a departmental culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development.The Sterilisation Manager is responsible for the overall functioning of the Sterilising Services in accordance with National Standards and Quality Standards.Resource and guidance of Sterilisation practices to provide a high quality service to clinical areas of the The Sutherland Hospital.

Leads and Provides Sterilisation Support to other clinics, units and areas within the The Sutherland Hospital.
Provide recommendations during the planning stage on new or upgraded sterilisation practices to ensure appropriate sterilisation equipment and resources as per National Standards are provided.

Manage the overall operational, budgetary responsibilities/activities and human resources of the Central Sterilizing Services Department (CSSD). Carry out and attain the mission and the goals of the department. Develop an employee-oriented departmental culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.

Selection Criteria: 

1. Demonstrated knowledge of the processes of the Sterilizing Services Department, ability to monitor and manage work priorities to enable adjustments to workflow as required.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff members.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.
4. Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of basic economics, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.
6. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of various employment practices and employee relations.
8. Excellent organisational management skills.
