What you'll be doing
The position holder undertakes Paramedic duties in NSW Ambulance Special Operations Team (SOT). 


The position holder undertakes ambulance responder duties on a daily basis in support of NSW


Ambulance Clinical Operations. In addition to the ambulance responder duties, Paramedics in SOT are an available resource for NSW Ambulance Control Centres to be tasked to incidents that require specific access skills to patients that are injured and/or are ill in remote, isolated or austere environments.


In addition to the support provided to Clinical Operations, Paramedics in SOT provide specialist services and paramedical support to government agencies intrastate, interstate and internationally i.e. NSW Police Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and Commonwealth agencies.


  1. Experience in providing excellent clinical care and good knowledge of operational procedures and practice.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal fitness program to maintain the required level of fitness to safely undertake the duties of the position.
  3. Effective verbal and written communication skills to work well independently and within a small team, including the ability to successfully interact in a multi-agency team environment.
  4. Demonstrated ability to follow management direction with limited supervision and maintain strict confidentiality.
  5. Highly developed leadership skills including experience in planning, problem solving, being decisive, exercising initiative, performing tasks in a timely manner and managing operational incidents.
  6. Strong mechanical reasoning skills and mechanical aptitude, including ability to successfully complete mathematical calculations relevant to an operational environment.
  7. Applicants who have completed a training course for Intensive Care Paramedic, Extended Care Paramedic, Critical Care, Control Centre, or other specialty course and are currently within a 24 month return of service obligation period will need to have completed this before the SOT course commencement date.
