What you'll be doing
  • Providing inpatient and outpatient care at a high standard and in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintaining close involvement in patient management, especially that of patients with pathology or suboptimal outcomes. 
  • Providing excellent clinical documentation.
  • Working well as part of a team in conjunction with midwives, allied health staff, neonatologists, anesthetists and other staff.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to optimizing the cost-effective management of patients as dictated by Activity Based Funding requirements.
     
  • Writing reports relating to IIMS, clinical governance, medico-legal and patient complaint matters.
  • Disseminating de-identified information arising from such reports so that staff awareness is improved and adverse outcomes are minimized.
  • Using the information from such reports and other sources to maintain up to date and cost-effective departmental patient care procedures.
  • Teaching and training of registrars and residents both in formal structured sessions and in the development of procedural skills.
  • Assisting registrars and diploma candidates prepare for RANZCOG examinations.
    Counselling and supporting junior medical staff as required.
    1.  Sound clinical knowledge in Obstetrics and Gynaecology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
    2.  Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including: 1. High level interpersonal and communication skills. 2. Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team. 3. Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice. 4. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
    3.  Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
