What you'll be doing
The position holder undertakes paramedic duties on a daily basis in support of NSW Ambulance (Ambulance) Operations. In addition to paramedic duties, Rescue Paramedics are an available resource for Ambulance Control Centres to task to incidents that require rescue skills for patients that are injured and/or ill. In addition to the support provided to Ambulance Operations, Rescue Paramedics provide specialist services and paramedical support to Government agencies intrastate, interstate and internationally i.e., NSW Police Force, Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and Commonwealth agencies.
- Applicants must hold, and maintain as current, all required certifications, licences, registrations and qualifications (including, but not limited to, Certificate to Practice, Paramedic Registration and NSW Driver Licence – medium rigid) and have completed all mandatory and relevant training and work experience as determined by NSW Ambulance, by the closing date for applications.
- Applicants who have completed a training course for Intensive Care Paramedic, Extended Care Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic, Control Centre Officer, or other specialty course, and are currently within a two (2) year consolidation/return of service obligation period, will need to have completed this consolidation period before the Rescue Training Course commencement date.
- Experience in providing excellent clinical care and good knowledge of operational procedures and practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal fitness to maintain the required level of fitness to safely undertake the duties of the position.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to work well independently and within a small team, including the ability to successfully interact in a multi-agency team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to follow management direction with limited supervision and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Highly developed leadership skills including experience in planning, problem solving, being decisive, exercising initiative, performing tasks in a timely manner and managing operational incidents.
- Strong mechanical reasoning skills and mechanical aptitude, including ability to successfully complete mathematical calculations relevant to an operational environment.
