What you'll be doing
Applications are sought for the role of Operations Assistants, for Westmead Operating Suites, a tertiary referral trauma centre with 24 operating rooms. The position is responsible for patient transport before and after procedures and positioning for surgery and includes ensuring operating tables and positioning devices are cleaned, maintained and applied using appropriate manual handling techniques, to support elective and emergency surgery. As well as collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to provide safe patient care.
As an Operations Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting clinical teams and ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the Operating Suite and High Dependency Units. Your work will directly contribute to the quality and efficiency of surgical care.

Maintaining and prepare surgical equipment and operating rooms.
Supporting staff in setting up for procedures and patient recovery.
Operating industrial cleaning equipment safely and effectively.

Selection Criteria:
Ability to demonstrate experience in patient transportation and positioning within an Operating Suite and ability to adapt to the demands of a Perioperative environment.
Sound knowledge of Operating Suite equipment and maintenance.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Manual handling principles and requirements.
Proven ability to communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and managers.
Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
