John Hunter Hospital’s PICU is seeking a passionate Nurse Unit Manager to lead a skilled, compassionate team
About The Unit
Our 7-bed PICU, co-located with a 29-bed Intensive Care Unit, the Organ and Tissue Donation Service, and The Hunter Retrieval Service, is a fast-paced, supportive environment delivering specialised medical, nursing, and allied health care to support a wide range of critically unwell children.
September 2026 will see the exciting expansion of a 10-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at John Hunter North to increase our capacity and provide new opportunities for growth and development within the service.

The Role and You
You will provide clinical leadership and management across the unit, ensuring high standards of patient care and supporting staff development.
You will oversee patient flow, quality and safety initiatives, change and redesign projects, resource allocation, and staff performance management, all while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated health professional with:
Clinical excellence in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to build collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing positive team environments
