 About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner/Transitional Nurse Practitioner (NP/TNP) will provide advanced and extended nursing care within the Emergency Department (ED) at Tomaree Community Hospital. The role functions both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with the approved scope of practice and formulary.

The NP/TNP is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients, with a focus on delivering timely, safe, and effective care. This includes initiating and managing treatment plans, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting diagnostic investigations, and referring patients to other healthcare professionals as required.

The position contributes to improved patient flow, service delivery, and clinical outcomes within the ED and broader hospital setting, working in partnership with medical, nursing, and allied health teams.

 

Where You’ll Be Working

Tomaree Community Hospital is a regional facility providing emergency and inpatient services to the local community. The Emergency Department manages approximately 18,000 presentations per year and is supported by a 14-bed inpatient unit.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or, if transitional, evidence of substantial progress towards endorsement. If not endorsed, the Transitional Nurse Practitioner will be appointed temporarily (up to 3 years) to work towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Post Graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing or evidence of working towards attainment with at least 3 years full time post registration emergency experience.
