What you'll be doing
NSW Ambulance aims to provide comprehensive and integrated “in-house” Secondary Triage and Alternative Referral services (STARs) within a Virtual Clinical Coordination Centre (VCCC). The position will be required to receive, accurately record and promptly progress telephone calls and requests for the provision of ambulance services. Provide relevant and appropriate advice and reassurance in accordance with Service protocols and polices. Conduct patient follow-up enquiries as directed by the Duty Manager Virtual Clinical Coordination Centre (VCCC).
  1. A comprehensive knowledge of Control Centre call-taking and NSW Ambulance Operations incorporating a broad understanding of NSW Ambulance Standard Operating Procedures.
  2. Demonstrated experience and understanding of CAD, database, spreadsheet and Microsoft Office suite software such as Word, Excel and Teams.
  3. Current Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification.
  4. Strong communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to work as a team member in a critical environment.
  5. Effective decision making skills with the ability to solve complex problems and implement solutions in time critical situations.
  6. A willingness to develop skills in ambulance systems such as Healthroster, IMS+ and eTime.
  7. Ability to think clearly, logically, remain calm in stressful situations and work within defined procedures.
  8. High degree of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy and interpersonal skills suitable for an emergency environment.
