About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is looking for a librarian to join the library team in providing information, training and assistance to the hospital staff for high quality patient care, research and continuing professional development. The library is part of the exciting Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct project https://lhap.health.nsw.gov.au
What You'll be Doing
The Librarian provides the delivery of high-quality, client-focused information resources and library services to SWSLHD staff and affiliated students, under the direction of the Library Manager and the Senior Librarian eServices. Primary areas of service provision include facilitating information access, research support, research skills training and client assistance in the day to day operation of the Library service. Additionally, the position is responsible for the functioning of the Ken Merten Library in the absence of the Library Manager and the Senior Librarian eServices.
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

- Recognised Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Librarianship / Information Studies with eligibility for Associate (professional/librarian) membership to the Australian Library and Information Association.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of searching online databases, bibliographic management, reference services and delivery of research skills training.
- Demonstrated high level of professionalism and commitment to quality client services and the ability to work flexibly in a changing environment.
- Demonstrated excellent liaison, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to promote library services and resources while building relationships across a range of professional and disciplinary areas.
