What you'll be doing
Provide high-level specialised support and advice to the corporate communications function of the lllawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) as well as to coordinate the effective operation of communications functions across the LHD.
Specifically, the Senior Communications Officer will provide services incorporating internal and external communications. This will include the coordination and preparation of media releases, communications for internal and external stakeholders and other relevant communications materials that assist in the promotion of ISLHD services, initiatives and events. The Senior Communications Officer will provide support to the manager in the operational running of the Unit and be involved in the development of media and communication campaigns, strategies for management of media issues as well as provide media liaison and digital content support.

- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, media, journalism or related field and demonstrated experience in public relations, communications or journalism.
- Demonstrated high level writing and editing skills, and the ability to produce accurate and effective materia while meeting critical deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in issues management and preparing appropriate communications strategies for high profile and sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated understanding of the workings of government and experience in ministerial correspondence and liaison.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and influencing skills and ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations to senior management and other key stakeholders.
