The Medical Workforce Unit (MWU) encompasses both Junior Medical Officer (JMO) and Senior Medical Officer (SMO) recruitment, appointment and management, and is committed to delivering high quality, client-focused and professional services that support the organisation in the delivery of its core function, which is the provision of high quality, safe and efficient health services that are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and the community. This position co-ordinates and supervises the day to day staffing and operations of the JMO Services team to facilitate delivery of quality, cost effective services and the achievement of business and service objectives with particular emphasis on recruitment, selection, on-boarding, contract management, personnel administration (including records management), rostering, leave management and the provision of advice on HR related policy, awards, agreements, practice and legislation.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.
