We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Director of Pharmacy to play a key leadership role in managing the day-to-day operations of our dynamic hospital pharmacy department. In this pivotal position, you’ll oversee procurement, inventory, clinical information systems, and operational workflows while supporting the Director of Pharmacy to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centred services. You’ll lead and mentor a skilled team of pharmacists and support staff, ensuring optimal workforce planning, compliance, and continuous improvement across all areas of practice. With your strong clinical background, strategic mindset, and ability to navigate complex healthcare environments, you’ll help drive innovation, maintain high standards, and contribute to the ongoing development of our pharmacy services within the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

A little about us.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

-         Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.

-         Working With Children Check (WWCC)

-         Registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia without restrictions. Postgraduate qualifications in either Diploma of Hospital Pharmacy, Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy or any other relevant postgraduate qualifications and a minimum of 6 months experience in the relevant specialty or a minimum three years’ experience in hospital pharmacy including not less than 12 months, experience in the relevant specialty acceptable to the employer.
