Join Our Compassionate and Skilled Psychology Team at St George Hospital.

We are seeking a dynamic and committed Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist (including registrars) to join our dedicated team in a permanent part-time role. This role sits within the aged care service which includes the newly established Behaviour Support Unit (BSU) located in the new, modern Kensington Street Building at St George Hospital. The BSU provides evidence-based clinical and behavioural support for patients with dementia, delirium, and other age-related cognitive conditions.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialist clinical area, dedicated to supporting older people living with dementia, delirium, and other age-related cognitive conditions. Our team delivers tailored, evidence-based care that promotes comfort, independence, and quality of life. The purpose of the Behaviour Support Unit is to stabilise behaviour and safely facilitate the transition of care to an appropriate discharge destination. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provision of high-quality evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions to older adults, including the development of behavioural support plans for those experiencing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.

  • Provision of neuropsychological assessments to clarify diagnosis, determine capacity and support treatment and discharge planning

  • Supporting complex case management and discharge planning

  • Collaborating closely with medical, nursing and allied health.

We are looking for a clinical psychologist, clinical neuropsychologist or registrar who brings clinical expertise, emotional intelligence, and who is passionate about advocating for vulnerable patients and supporting families through challenging health transitions. Permanent Part time job share arrangements will be considered.

Selection Criteria

  1. Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.
  2. Demonstrated experience in the provision of evidence-based non-pharmacological behavioural support for the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the provision of neuropsychological assessment, the interpretation of psychometric data and provision of neuropsychological reports and feedback in the context of aged care.
  4. Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills and time management skills.
  5. Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
  6. Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a health setting.
  7. Demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality improvement and research.
