About the opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Project Director to support the delivery of a complex infrastructure program.

This role will work closely with the Project Director and Senior Project Directors to drive successful project outcomes. This includes monitoring progress against milestones, contributing to solutions for complex challenges, and supporting effective project governance and delivery. You will play a key role in stakeholder engagement, building and maintaining strong relationships to support collaboration and alignment across the program. You will also contribute to proactive risk management by identifying, assessing, and addressing project risks and emerging issues.

The role will support reporting and data-driven decision making by compiling insights from multiple sources and providing clear, timely advice to project leadership and the Executive Director. Experience working in brownfield environments, with a focus on disruption planning and coordination, is highly desirable.

This is a fixed term full-time role for a period of four years. Remuneration will be determined with the successful candidate.

Please note that as Health Infrastructure is an organisation of NSW Health, the successful applicant must reside in NSW or be willing to relocate if appointed.

This recruitment may be used to create a Talent Pool for similar future roles (ongoing or temporary) that may arise over the next 18 months.

About you
You are a capable and motivated project professional with experience supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure programs, ideally within live operational or brownfield environments. You bring a strong foundation in project management and are confident working with senior leaders, consultants, and contractors to achieve project outcomes.

You communicate clearly and exercise sound judgement, with the ability to translate complex technical information for a diverse range of stakeholders. Your experience in disruption planning and risk management enables you to anticipate and proactively manage impacts, supporting safe and continuous operations.

You are a collaborative team player with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and you thrive in multidisciplinary delivery environments. A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement underpins your approach, alongside well-developed stakeholder engagement skills that allow you to build trust, manage expectations, and maintain productive relationships.
Whilst not mandatory, a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a relevant trade qualification, is highly regarded.
