What you'll be doing
To recruit for up to six (6) Advanced Training positions (four core clinical, two laboratory), located across a recruitment network of four hospitals (Campbelltown Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and which together cover the curricula of the disciplines of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, and Immunopathology. The positions are suitable for Advanced Training in Clinical Immunology and Allergy (Royal Australian College of Physicians, RACP), Advanced Training in Immunopathology (Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, RCPA), or for the Joint Training program of both Colleges. The core clinical positions involve the inpatient and outpatient management of immunological disorders, including interdepartmental consultations, for: autoimmune and inflammatory disorders; allergy and hypersensitivity; vasculitides; primary and secondary immunodeficiency, including HIV/AIDS; immunopathology. The laboratory positions are located in the Immunology Laboratories at the Royal Prince Alfred and/or Liverpool Hospitals, and may cover exposure to the performance and reporting of: immunoassays, immunochemical analyses, assessment of cellular immune phenotypes and function and allergy testing, as well as laboratory management and communication with requesting clinicians. In all positions, trainees are expected to participate in continuing education activities, supervision of junior medical officers, research projects, and clinical and laboratory quality programs within their respective departments.

Successful applicant(s) will have their contract(s) issued by only one of the four hospitals in the recruitment network but secondments to the other three hospitals during their term(s) of employment are possible, subject to position availability and individual training needs.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. At least four postgraduate years and successful completion of the RACP Divisional Clinical Exam.
  3. Demonstrated career interest in Clinical Immunology.
  4. Demonstrated teamwork within a multidisciplinary team, time management and problem-solving skills in a complex clinical environment.
  5. Demonstrated interest in teaching and research.
  6. Demonstrated interest in ongoing education and clinical quality.
  7. Be willing to be seconded to hospitals within the Sydney & South Western Sydney Local Health Districts, if required.
