What you'll be doing
The Emergency Department Administration Team provide administrative support to the Emergency Department and Emergency Medicine Unit 24 hours per day. The role is required to facilitate all admissions through the Emergency Department applying a strong knowledge of Health Insurances, Policies and procedures related to the treatment of Medicare ineligible and compensable patients. This includes but is not limited
to the promotion of private health insurance utilisation, the accurate collection of data and the collection of all associated monies for both inpatient and outpatient services including those generated by Medicare Ineligible patients.
The position is also responsible for activation of all emergency paging throughout the facility, this may include managing and using judgement to facilitate activating a team relevant to the type of emergency or in situations where the system fails.
The position is also responsible for additional services afterhours including weekends and public holidays for including the admission of planned patients using the same admission criteria as that applied to emergency admissions, the afterhours management of the hospital switchboard , the after-hours management of Fleet & Accommodation.

- Demonstrated experience in providing high level administrative and clerical support whilst managing workload under minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and problem solving.
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
- Well- developed interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of professional conduct and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in use of computers and software packages as well as learn and adapt quickly to new systems and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to collate documents and correspondence with accuracy and clarity.
- Willingness and ability to work a 24hour rotating roster with flexibility and ability to work additional shifts as requested.
