We are seeking a passionate and community‑connected Aboriginal Health Worker to support the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing our service.

  • Work within a fast‑paced, high‑volume hand injury clinic that provides specialist care across the Local Health District.
  • Be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with Nursing, Medical, Hand Therapy, and Administration staff.
  • Support patients through their recovery journey, ensuring culturally safe, person‑centred care.
  • Build and strengthen your skills in hand‑injury care, with opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development.

The SWSLHD Hand Clinic provides specialist care to patients with hand injuries across the Local Health District. This is a fast‑paced, busy clinical environment with strong opportunities to learn new skills and grow professionally.

As the successful applicant, you will play a key role in:

  • Providing culturally appropriate health education, advocacy, and support for Aboriginal young people
  • Being an active member of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, working closely with Nursing, Medical, Hand Therapy, and Administration staff
  • Developing and enhancing your clinical skills in hand‑injury care
  • Maintaining a patient‑focused approach in all aspects of care
  • Working Monday to Friday within a supportive and structured clinical setting 
     
 

Selection Criteria 
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below. 
 

1. Current Authority to Practice as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), General with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. In this role being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement. Tell us about your mob and connection to culture?  
3. Demonstrated recent experience as an Enrolled Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant speciality.  
4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs 
5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise 
6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
