- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage under section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, with knowledge and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people culture.
- Holds a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice), and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Hold or willing to undertake a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or equivalent as a Aboriginal Health Worker.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and demonstrated understanding of the social determinants of their health and wellbeing. Demonstrated skills to engage with and working effectively with young people and their families to identify their psychosocial support and health care needs and facilitate access to health and community support services.
- Demonstrated ability to take a lead role in liaising and consulting with staff in Government and non-Government agencies at all levels, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, to develop health service pathways for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and undertake community engagement activities.
- Ability to problem solve, advocate for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people needs and be adaptable to changing service and client needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as ability to work independently and liaise with other professionals and community agencies, including schools and community organisations, to advocate for and facilitate access to services for young mob.
- Demonstrated high level written verbal and interpersonal communication skills, computer literacy in Microsoft applications and capacity to use electronic health records. Current NSW Driver's license and willingness to travel across NSLHD.
