What you will be doing:

An amazing opportunity is now available to join the short term staffing pool as an Occupational Therapist. The short term staffing pool covers short term vacancies and periodic service demands across Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. 

Your role as an Occupational Therapist will provide a high quality occupational therapy service to patients/clients, consumers and carers, to ensure optimal health outcomes for the clients during your short term contract.

The contract offered will align to your clinical experience and skill set as an Occupational Therapist’s for optimal service delivery and efficiency.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated post qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist providing clinical care in any of the following settings – Inpatient, Outpatients/Ambulatory Care, Community Health, Paediatrics, Mental Health , Drug & Alcohol
  3. Ability to work independently as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team and provide clinical direction when working with Allied Health Assistants
  4. Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication with patients/clients/consumers, teams and agencies, with experience in clinical documentation and formal reporting
  5. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement using skilled clinical reasoning and seek professional consult when performing novel, complex or critical tasks
  6. Demonstrated experience in the use of relevant evidence based practice to guide decision making
  7. Demonstrated high level of organisational skills, including ability to prioritise clinical activity
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
