What you will be doing:

An amazing opportunity is now available to join the short term staffing pool as a Dietitian Level 1 or 2. The short term staffing pool covers short term vacancies and periodic service demands across Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. 

Your role as a Dietitian Level 1 or 2 will provide a high quality evidence-based Nutrition and Dietetics Service to inpatients, outpatients and staff of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Successful applicants for this position will be responsible for:

  • High level of clinical expertise and knowledge in general clinical Dietetics
  • Evaluating and developing the Dietetic services to inpatients and outpatients and other clients/staff
  • Regular and ongoing quality improvement activities
  • Attending relevant clinical and department meetings (ward rounds, case conferences, lectures, professional development sessions, staff meetings)
  • Designing and implementing nutritional counselling/education programs for patients and staff as required
  • Participate in Dietetics student supervision and teaching as required

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics and eligible for full membership of the Dietitians Australia
  2. Up-to-date knowledge and skills in nutrition and dietetic practice, including the inpatient acute care setting
  3. Current experience as a clinical dietitian, with post graduate experience in a hospital setting
  4. Demonstrated evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience and confidence within multi-disciplinary teams
  5. Demonstrated ability to work successfully both as part of a team and independently, while managing a high paced and high volume workload
  6. High level computer skills in a wide variety of applications/programs, including experience with Diet Office/Food service IT systems
  7. Experience in nutrition related quality improvement projects focusing on improvements in clinical patient care and/or services
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
