What you'll be doing
In this advanced practice role, you will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred Physiotherapy services as a primary contact clinician within the Emergency Department, managing complex and time‑critical presentations.
You will:
Manage a substantial caseload of MSK patients, prioritising triage categories 3–5
Provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and intervention for complex, comorbid and high‑risk presentations
Support rapid patient flow through effective care planning, discharge preparation and referral coordination
Apply high‑level clinical reasoning, autonomy and judgement in a fast‑paced ED environment
Contribute to education, clinical supervision, quality improvement initiatives and service development
This role includes participation in a 7‑day rotating roster, including weekends and out‑of‑hours services, requiring confidence to work autonomously when senior support may be limited.

We’re looking for an experienced, motivated clinician to provide high quality care in a fast paced, collaborative environment. This 28 hour position includes weekend shifts; however, as a job share role, there is flexibility in how the hours are allocated. Applicants interested only in weekend work—or those seeking a mix of weekday and weekend hours—are strongly encouraged to apply. Essential Requirements
Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy
Registration: Current General Physiotherapy Registration under AHPRA
Selection Criteria
Significant clinical experience in Physiotherapy, with substantial experience working in the emergency department and/or as a primary contact practitioner treating challenging patients with chronic and complex conditions.
Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and demonstrated core competency skills in Cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic, gerontology, and Neurological Physiotherapy
Demonstrated experience in the development of clinical physiotherapy policies and procedures and/or guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to provide a consultancy service across a wide geographical area
Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and teaching and clinical supervision and teaching of undergraduate/graduate entry level students.
