What you'll be doing
The Carer Program Coordinator will work in collaboration with carers, mental health and carers support services,  and multicultural organisations to  coordinate and further develop initiatives to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) mental health carers across NSW.

This position is responsible for program coordination, including advice to NSW Health services on culturally safe practices, and the coordination of carer support groups delivered by Bilingual Group Leaders (BGLs).

The role is instrumental in enhancing the inclusion, wellbeing and dignity of CALD carers and their families, ensuring that their perspectives inform the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental health services.
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, health management, social sciences or equivalent work experience in a health or community setting
  2. Demonstrated experience in program coordination, including recruitment, training, supervision and support of staff or volunteers.
  3. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with CALD communities, government and non-government agencies, to improve access and inclusion.
  4. Strong advisory and negotiation skills with the ability to influence service delivery and policy to reflect carer-inclusive and culturally safe practices
  5. Well-developed project management and evaluation skills with the capacity to deliver outcomes within set timeframes and budgets
  6. Comprehensive understanding of cultural diversity, carer roles and the challenges faced by families supporting people with mental health concerns.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, training materials and presentations for varied audiences.
  8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, exercising sound professional judgement
