Join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team within the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC) at Westmead—part of Western Sydney Local Health District’s Mental Health Service. This newly established 6-bed unit, co-located within the Adult Emergency Department, is designed to provide rapid, short-term care for individuals experiencing acute mental health presentations.

What you'll be doing
In this senior clinical role, you will provide advanced, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to consumers presenting with acute mental health needs, supporting recovery and functional independence.
Deliver comprehensive assessments and targeted interventions in acute settings
Develop and evaluate individualised, recovery-oriented care plans
Provide therapeutic interventions, including group-based programs
Lead discharge planning and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams
Support continuity of care through follow-up and community collaboration

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapist Board of Australia
Registration: AHPRA registration as Occupational Therapist Current General Occupational therapy Registration under AHPRA
Selection Criteria:
Qualification recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia- AHPRA with significant experience working as an Occupational Therapist in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the mental health hospital setting, complex mental health conditions and functional needs.
Demonstrated ability to deliver group and individual person centred therapeutic interventions based on evidence-based practices, tailored to clients with mental health and psychosocial challenges, supporting recovery and functional independence.
Ability to apply group and or individual person-centred sensory processing principles and assess sensory preferences and challenges, and implement appropriate sensory-based strategies to promote emotional regulation, functional participation, and recovery.
Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging and demanding caseload; managing stressful situations; and applying effective reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of complex nature
Demonstrated experience in working as part of a mental health multidisciplinary team both independently and collaboratively, including ability to effectively engage consumers and relevant stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision in a healthcare setting and ability to exercise expert advice and consultation in relation to the provision of occupational therapy interventions
Commitment to ongoing professional development, including participation in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical practice and service delivery
Unrestricted NSW Driver's License and willingness to use for work purposes
