Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located at WSLHD Mental Health Service.

Successful applicants will be coordinating the Westmead Psychotherapy Program (WPP) in collaboration with the Network Director of Training, with the aim of working with trainees to upskill their psychotherapy abilities.

This position is primarily involved in the teaching and supervision of trainee psychiatrists.

This position will include the responsibility for clinical supervision of registrars for their long-term psychotherapy case and may involve supervising trainees for their Scholarly projects.

Appointee will be required to participate in the Mental Health on-call roster at nominated facilities within Western Sydney Local Health District as determined by the District.

Applicants must have Australian Fellowship/Specialist Registration at time of applying.

 

Essential Requirements for Appointment

1.   Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable)

2.    Sound clinical knowledge in Acute Adult Psychiatry demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.

3.  Possess Advanced Training Certificate in Psychotherapy and/or substantial experience as a Psychotherapist with experience in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

4.    Supervisory experience in psychodynamic psychotherapy is essential, as well as a working knowledge of trainee requirements for the RANZCP in psychotherapy. A working knowledge of the Conversational Model of psychodynamic psychotherapy would be advantageous.

 

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award/ Health Services Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.

4.    Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.

5.    Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by:
