About the role


This NP/TNP position is a SLHD appointment, working within the Western Sector Acute Care Services (Croydon and Canterbury) and the Concord Repatriation General Hospital Emergency Department as per the related ACS. The related inpatient Mental Health Services include Concord Centre for Mental Health (CCMH) and Professor Marie Bashir Centre (PMBC). 

The Sydney LHD Mental Health Service is currently seeking an experienced and motivated registered nurse with demonstrable knowledge and experience in evidence based mental health nursing, clinical and quality frameworks and clinical leadership skills. Mental Health Service SLHD is committed to the provision of quality health services within the community. We aim to lead through achievement and innovation in clinical practice, research, teaching, training and management.


The Nurse Practitioner/Transitional Nurse Practitioner (NP/TNP) enables the Acute Care Service (ACS) model of care, conducting mental health triages, risk assessment, comprehensive mental health assessments, care/management plans for consumers and discharge planning within the Emergency Department, community and inpatient MHS. Recovery and trauma informed care principles being core elements.

Ideal Candidate

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), authorised to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the NSW Nurses & Midwifery Registration Board or working towards such a qualification. If transitional, 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty of the Nurse Practitioner role.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate sound reasoning behind clinical, diagnostic and prescribing decisions that are informed by evidence based practice and made within a nursing context.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
