To provide evidence-informed mental health assessments and therapeutic interventions for young people and their families. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes. Regular clinical supervision, case reviews, and a variety of training opportunities will be available throughout the calendar year. You will manage a diverse caseload, encompassing a wide range of presentations and treatment modalities.

Clinical Nurse Specialist (Grade 2): $58.83 - $60.76
Clinical Psychologist: $57.30 - $69.84
Allied Health Professional (Level 3): $58.95 - $60.86

What you'll be doing
The Child & Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) community service provides a comprehensive range of assessment and treatments for infants, children and adolescents affected by moderate to severe or complex mental health problems or experiencing significant emotional and behavioural problems.  The team also provides consultation liaison mental health services for children and adolescents presenting to Hospital Emergency Departments and inpatient wards.  

Working with the multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other service providers, the CYMHS clinician provides mental health assessment and therapy for children and adolescents with severe and complex mental health problems and their families. This involves evidence-based assessment and treatment through individual, family, parenting and group therapy programs. Participation in group programs may require some late afternoon and early evening work.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing and registration with AHPRA or membership with AASW for Social Workers. Clinical Psychologists must have a minimum postgraduate Masters or higher in Clinical Psychology. For Social Work, experience as a Level 2 clinician. Occupational Therapist must have experience as a Level 2 clinician. Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 must have relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
  2. Relevant clinical mental health experience in a community setting which includes working with children and/or adolescents and their families.
  3. Demonstrated comprehensive training/qualifications and experience in providing treatment for children and adolescents affected by mental health problems, their families/carers and broader system of care through evidenced-based individual, group and parent-focused therapies such as CBT, DBT, attachment–based therapies and family therapy.
