About the Opportunity 
South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated nurse with experience in leading staff and developing relationships to facilitate the provision of patient centred, evidence-based nursing care. The SWSLHD Injury Prevention CNC leads collaboration between the Trauma and Acute Surgery Unit, Emergency Departments and the Healthier Communities Directorate to promote and lead injury prevention initiatives within SWSLHD.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant plays a pivotal role in shaping a district-wide model of care framework for injury prevention services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to the district.

The primary focus of this role is to expand on, develop and implement consumer-centred education and preventative programs to reduce trauma related injuries, through close consultation with community groups and services.

The successful applicant will lead with a practice development philosophy in the delivery by leading quality improvement activities and embedding of injury prevention within the community and across SWSLHD facilities and services.

The successful applicant will be working across the 5 sites in SWSLHD and must hold a minimum P2 licence.

 

What You'll Be Doing
The District Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for Injury Prevention is an expert practitioner who, through leadership, facilitates the provision of high-level patient centered evidence-based clinical nursing care and is expected to embrace and lead a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care. This is achieved under the provision of five (5) domains, those being clinical service and consultancy, clinical leadership, education, research and clinical services planning & management.   
  
The position is expected to be able to take initiative and be relatively independent, confident and self-directed. The District CNC for injury prevention works with trauma department with Trauma Surgical Consultants, facility staff, Community, Population health, facility executive team, clinical streams and district executive to establish, progress and evaluate systems and processes across SWSLHD, ensure consistency of processes (where applicable), that are evidence based. 
  
The District CNC for Injury Prevention is also responsible for coordination and driving quality improvement activities, standardization of education and training activities across SWSLHD and development of a district model of care framework for injury prevention services in line with the one service multiple sites approach.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and at least 7 years full time equivalent post registration experience and at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience in a relevant field of practice relevant to trauma and injury prevention. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation
  2. Please outline your clinical experience and qualifications relevant to the CNC 3 domains and functions.
  3. Demonstrated experience in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery by enhancing models of care to achieve better patient outcomes and improve patient and staff experience.
  4. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, and successfully implement evidence-based projects, quality activities and research relationships with a broad range stakeholders.
  5. Highly developed clinical problem solving and analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to interpret data and apply insights practically to the development and evaluation of models of care, education materials for patients and staff.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
