About The Opportunity 
Are you a skilled and passionate nurse leader with expertise in Melanoma care?

South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to provide expert clinical advice and leadership within the specialty of Melanoma care.

This pivotal role supports community patients, carers, and healthcare professionals by developing, implementing, and evaluating tailored care management plans that improve outcomes for Melanoma care patients.

The CNC will work collaboratively across hospitals and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure best-practice, evidence-based treatment is delivered.

 

What You'll Be Doing
The role of the Melanoma Specialist Nurse (Clinical Nurse Consultant) will be to work in partnership with the  Melanoma Institute of Australia (MIA) to promote best practice, actively contributing to quality health care by collaborating with health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes within the spectrum of melanoma cancer, coordinate relevant support in the Community and Supportive and Palliative Care services. The Melanoma Specialist Nurse (CNC) will work in close liaison with the Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical and Supportive Palliative Care specialists ensuring the continuity of care and support for patients with melanoma cancer and their carers. 

The Melanoma Specialist Nurse (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

How to Apply

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time experience in the specialty field. Approved or working towards post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty.
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
  5. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care.
  6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders within SWSLHD and MIA to support the development and implementation of Melanoma Care Coordination.
  7. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
