About the Opportunity 
Join our specialist team supporting women experiencing mental health concerns during pregnancy and up to 12 months post-birth. The role provides expert clinical assessment, case management, and consultation, while contributing to service improvement and education.

We are looking for:

  • Experience in perinatal, infant, women’s mental health or related field
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, family-focused care

What You'll Be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant/Clinical Midwife Consultant (CNC/CMC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC/CMC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC/CMC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC/CMC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.

These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

The focus on community health and wellbeing makes SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services an ideal place to work, providing opportunities for professional growth and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the community.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
  2.  Describe how you have provided expert clinical advice and leadership within a defined specialty. In your response, outline how you have developed, implemented and evaluated care plans for patients with complex health needs, and how you have supported safe, compassionate and culturally responsive care.
  3. Explain your experience contributing to strategic and operational planning within a clinical service. Include how you have supported or delivered specialty-related education programs, integrated research or evidence-based practice into clinical care, and participated in quality improvement, risk management and work health and safety processes.
  4. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
