About the Role
Kurri Kurri District Hospital is seeking motivated and adaptable Registered Nurses to join our perioperative team. This role offers the opportunity to work across all areas of the operating theatre, supporting a diverse surgical caseload with a strong focus on ophthalmology.
You will be responsible for delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care, with the flexibility to work across multiple roles including scrub and scout. Nurses are expected to actively contribute to maintaining departmental standards through regular checks and adherence to quality assurance processes.
This is an ideal opportunity for a skilled perioperative nurse who enjoys working in a small, collaborative team and is committed to continuous learning and professional development.
Where You’ll Be Working
KKDH is a small, specialised health facility performing over 3,000 theatre cases annually, primarily in ophthalmology, as well as minor ENT and general surgical procedures.
The hospital operates a single theatre supported by a close-knit team of highly skilled nurses. The environment fosters teamwork, skill diversification, and a strong focus on patient-centred care.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
★ Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
★ Recent experience in a perioperative setting, with exposure to scrub and/or scout roles highly regarded
★ Flexibility and willingness to work across all areas of the operating theatre
★ A commitment to ongoing professional development, including upskilling within the perioperative environment
★ Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
★ Sound clinical judgement, critical thinking, and the ability to respond to changing clinical situations
★ An understanding of quality improvement principles and a proactive approach to maintaining clinical standards
★ Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing (or working towards) will be highly considered
