About the role
Medical Imaging operates as an independent business unit within Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD), providing diagnostic imaging services to numerous facilities across Western NSW.
The Chief Radiographer will hold the primary responsibility for the delivery, coordination and ongoing development of imaging services within the Mudgee Health Service, while also supporting operational functions across surrounding outreach imaging sites and maintaining managerial reporting lines to several regional sole Chief Radiographers.
The role involves the day‑to‑day clinical, financial and administrative management of the Medical Imaging Department, ensuring the service meets all relevant accreditation requirements and maintains high standards of safety, quality and efficiency. It includes responsibility for leading a capable workforce through effective recruitment, staff development, performance management and the cultivation of a positive, inclusive team culture.
The Chief Radiographer monitors financial performance, manages services within established budget parameters and works collaboratively with the General Manager and Business Manager to develop strategies that support financial sustainability and improved service outcomes.
The role provides broad clinical leadership, actively participates in clinical service delivery and drives improvements in clinical practice, quality systems and patient care. The role may also include supervision, training and completion of QA/QC processes for the WNSWLHD Remote X‑ray Operator program as required.
