We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian Assistant to join the dynamic and supportive Nutrition & Dietetics team at Liverpool Hospital, one of the largest tertiary referral hospitals in NSW. In this role, you will work under the direction of Dietitians to support the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate nutrition care to inpatients across a wide range of clinical specialties. Your contribution will play a vital part in optimising patients’ nutrition and hydration during their hospital stay. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting daily patient menu completion, assisting patients with meal selection and ensuring choices align with their clinical needs. 
  • Liaising closely with Food Services teams to accurately communicate patient‑specific diet, allergy, and nutrition requirements. 
  • Assisting Dietitians with nutritional surveillance, monitoring oral intake and promptly reporting concerns. 
  • Ensuring patients receive meals that meet therapeutic diets, clinical requirements and individual preferences. 
  • Contributing to a patient‑centred, fast‑paced hospital environment, supporting teamwork, quality improvement and excellent nutrition care across the service.

You will be committed to supporting high‑quality dietetic services and confident working both independently and as part of a team.

To be the right fit for this role, you will have: 

  • Relevant qualifications or experience, including a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics), Certificate III AHA (Nutrition & Dietetics), an equivalent qualification, or a minimum of 12 months full‑time experience working as a Dietitian Assistant in a hospital, with a commitment to commence Certificate IV within 12 months. 
  • Strong nutrition knowledge, including understanding of therapeutic diets, malnutrition screening, and hospital diet requirements. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, Dietitians, and Food Services teams. 
  • Demonstrated capability to work both independently and collaboratively, with an understanding of quality improvement processes and safe clinical practice. 
  • Good computer skills, including experience using the CBORD Windows system and tablets for menu selections. 
  • Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays. 
 

Selection Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or Certificate III AHA (Nutrition & Dietetics) or equivalent qualification or minimum12 months full-time equivalent relevant experience working as a Dietitian Assistant in a hospital with a commitment to commence Certificate IV within 12months.
  • Please outline your qualifications and relevant experience as a Dietitian Assistant. In your response, include your experience using the CBORD Diet Office system and how you have applied this program in the provision of nutrition services.
  • Please describe your verbal and written communication skills and your ability to work effectively as part of a team. Provide specific examples that demonstrate how you communicate clearly and contribute positively to team based work.
