What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of an Advanced Trainee in Anaesthetics is to provide advanced level anaesthetic practice in a complex clinical environment, whilst under supervision as part of the advanced training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Advanced Trainees are expected to demonstrate a higher level of knowledge and skills prior to entering a fellowship year across key areas of anaesthetics, including:
• anaesthesia and sedation
• regional anaesthesia
• airway management
• pain medicine
• perioperative medicine
• resuscitation
• trauma and crisis management
  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
  3. Advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience.
  4. Advanced organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  5. Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  6. Advanced ability to remain calm and act constructively when faced with high pressure situations or unpredictable environments.
  7. Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
