What you'll be doing
To provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Surgical SRMO is responsible for the initial assessment of patients and ongoing day-to-day management under the direction of the appropriate attending medical officer or medical officer. The Surgical SRMO has a responsibility for ensuring appropriate communication and documentation takes place as well as a responsibility for the training and supervision of junior medical staff.
The Surgical SRMO is expected to adopt a progressively independent approach to the patient management and decision making under the guidance of the appropriate AMO. There is an emphasis on education and training opportunities at WSLHD, the Surgical SRMO is expected to attend as many teaching sessions as possible. The Surgical SRMO will also at times be required to relieve Advanced Trainees that will not only be within Western Sydney Metro but on rural secondment.
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Completion of at least two post graduate years by the end of current clinical year. The applicant must be registered with General Registration and worked in an Australian Hospital with a least 6 Months experience in Surgery
- Demonstrated commitment to relevant SET training program. The candidate should demonstrate that they have either (i) completed (desirable) or (ii) on track to complete the requirements for admission to SET training. This includes the completion of courses, exams and terms.
- Demonstrated ability to work both in a team environment and independently to deliver excellent clinical care. It is preferable that candidates demonstrate excellent technical and non-technical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the academic environment of the Department. It is preferable that candidates demonstrate experience in research and/or teaching.
- Please upload evidence of completion (if applicable) of the following: (1) EMST, (2) CCrISP, (3) ASSET, (4) CLEAR, (5) Generic Surgical Sciences Examination (GSSE).
